• Whilst it may feel too early still for some, there are Christmas lights starting to appear in the shops and homes across Kent. Christmas is an exciting time for many but it can bring feelings of anxiousness and dread to the forefront of the minds of many separated parents who worry about where the children will spend the festive period.

    Complications in arrangements

Even those with the most well-established routines can find it a struggle to sort out which parent the child(ren) will spend time with on which days over Christmas as well as other complications such as how will the child(ren) see grandparents and other extended family members. Travel arrangements can also be complicated with worries about how will they be funded as well as how a parent’s new partner might fit into the equation.

As we head towards the festive period the stresses can mount up, leading to long-standing resentments between parents resurfacing and for Christmas to be anything other than a time of joy for many separated families.

    Benefits of early arrangements

Making the arrangements in good time will give certainty to both parents, bringing you peace of mind. The children will know what is coming in the weeks ahead giving them the best chance of having a happy Christmas break.
